HOPE FOR CHILDREN – TAKING RESPONSIBILITY TOGETHER
West Special School is a school and home for deaf and dumb children and youth, as well as children and youth with mental and physical disabilities. There is no suitable type of school for most local children with disabilities. Unfortunately, children with disabilities are disadvantaged in all areas of life.
Families often reject their own children and show little or no love. Many children end up as beggars or fall into oblivion, abandoned by society.
With the West Special School, a place has been created where these children are given a chance and supported to the best of their abilities!

A VISION COMES TO LIFE – HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Everlyne Nekesa is a trained teacher for special education in Kenya. With her husband Kutete Matimbai, she made the decision to establish a center for mentally and physically handicapped children in Chwele, Kenya. They wanted to enable the children to lead an almost normal life in a loving environment.
In May 2008, the West Special School finally opened its doors with its first four students. Since then, the school has grown in numbers, now to over 65 children with a wide variety of impairments.
West Special School has become a new home for these children. They feel comfortable and are taught and cared for with love and passion by the teachers under the direction of Everlyne Nekesa.
